What is NOISE Analysis for?
NOISE Analysis is typically used for business and organizational strategy. Because NOISE Analysis looks at how the past can inform the future of a business, we particularly like it for established enterprises, as well as nimble small businesses with teams or partners that have experience working together on projects. It encourages the inclusion of team members’ perspectives and involves them in the strategy phase.
By itself, NOISE Analysis is not going to help develop an entire strategic roadmap but it is complimentary to other business frameworks and analysis tools. For example, because NOISE Analysis is all about staying with the present, complementing it with the Current State Customer Journey Map can inform filling up Improvements and Opportunities sections. It may also inform many departments and their strategic processes, such as the NOISE Analysis for operations, Content Strategy for marketing teams, and Product Roadmap for designers and product managers.
Comparing NOISE Analysis to SWOT Analysis
NOISE Analysis is a strategic planning framework and can be used alongside or as an alternative to the SWOT Analysis. NOISE Analysis shares some elements with SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) but takes a more solution-focused approach. While SWOT takes the “let’s get down to business” approach seeing the market as a battleground ripe for opportunities for the winner, NOISE sets up a more positive tone from the get-go about the current state of the business, and by nature, it is more collaborative than a top-down approach.
